Anyone else always have to spell February in their head as it's typed? Feb-ru-ary. Same with Wednesday (Wed-nes-day), anyway...
HI!
January, you sucked.
Sorry for no updates, January and I just were not feeling it.
I officially changed positions at work, and that kind of threw me, but we now seem to have things under control (with clarifications).
But, that didn't stop me from retail therapy-ing (the BEST TYPE of therapy!).
I've actually been pretty good. In January I only really bought some clothes for yoga* up until this weekend.
We went up to NH to meet up with some friends and meet their adorable 5 week old daughter :) Then hit up some outlets.
I picked up two skirts from Loft and two from J. Crew.
The red/navy and navy/polka dotted one are from Loft. Green and black are J. Crew (outlet No 2 pencil wool version).
I have to thank my friend for spying the green one at J. Crew (and then also the black one). I ended up getting both for $36 total. I also tried on these shorts, but they did the back gapping thing. And I'm just noticing now that they had the adjustable waistband that likely would have taken care of that. Bummer. (I will cart stalk them now...)
Anyway, I AM SO EXCITED about the polka dot one! I was just commenting to co-workers my only purge (pictures to come) remorse was a navy blue and white polka dotted skirt, that made its way at the very end of the process to the donate pile, and within a week I was like "Oh no. I want that." It was a thrift store find originally from several years ago, and ill-fitting and hardly worn, but I wanted navy/dotted, and I had one, boo. So when I spied this one at Loft on the way to the check-out for the red/navy one, it was game over. Oh, and this one fits to perfection (thank you Loft Petite sizing), yay! I had also bought this skirt from Loft when they finally had a 50% off sale. I feel like they aren't doing those as frequently as they usually do.
*Yup, you read that right, yoga. A co-worker had started going a few months ago, and when Living Social offered up a deal for 10 classes at the studio, some of us took advantage, and have been going once a week.
Here are some pictures from the closet purge that was done at the end of December.
Starting point. The husband has the first part just starting at the door to the first main hook for the rod, but 3/4 of its space is used by me.
Getting some stacks going...
One of the oldest items in my closet. As evidenced by this photo, circa 2005....
I may have actually stumbled across a shirt that I think I wore to my (older) sister's high school graduation...it went to the donate pile. The brown tank did not. (I can't! I was like 10 bucks from Express, and I "like" it too much still to let go.)
The 8" from the hanger to the wall on the left side rod, and the 3" on the in front of you rod are huge improvements regarding "space". We used to be talking hanger jam packed to hanger.
Hangers of donated items.
The left furthest stack, very top item is the blue/white polka dotted skirt. Tears until today's find.
Hope to have some more frequent posts in Feb.
Thanks for reading!
See ya :)

Still here
You all thought I didn't survive the closet purge, didn't you. Well, I did, I've just been busy.
I have pictures of the event and everything! I just need to use my laptop to upload them (using the iPad now), and Lord only knows what type of adventure that will be.
I'll try to get them up and do a recap this week.
Until then, GO PATS!

The day I bought a $32 make-up brush
So, here's the thing. I like to shop, but girl also loves a bargain.
I spent the earlier part of the morning at my mom's, digging through memory lane, and going through old stuff.
Once that had lost its appeal I headed home, then thought, "nah, it's still too early, gotta head back out", which if you're my husband, knows means trouble.
To Taunton I go!
I was actually really good at TJMaxx. I didn't but anything, though there was this really cute Cynthia Rowley sweater, that I think was a tagged return though, as it kinda smelled like old lady. So, anyway, it stayed behind.
I've also been un-needingly hunting for a pair of brown boots that aren't too brown. So I continued my way to Macy*s to scope out the Etienne Aigner Chip in the Banana Bread color. I already have a split black/banana bread pair from two winters ago, and just decided that I love the brown shade.
Well, those are still not cheap enough for me to want to buy, yet. But instead, I stumbled across these Anne Klein Brenton cognac brown ones. They were marked down to $99.99, and I had a coupon for $25 off a $100 purchase. I technically had to by a Godiva chocolate bar to use the coupon, but whatevs. Final price $77 and change. Macy*s online still has them listed at $150, I win.
So, I'm at Macy*s minding my own business, buying some boots, when I also decide I need to sit down with someone at Clinique so they can tell me what shade my face is, and point me in the direction of a make-up that's not too make-up-y.
So Rosana introduces me to the Moisture Surge tinted moisturizer, and I let her do the whole shebang and put it on so I can make sure I like it and I do. Just what I was looking for, some coverage, but not too heavy. Perfecto. Then I make the mistake of deciding I need a foundation brush to go with it. I mean, I can't just keep applying my face make-up with my fingertips, right? And how much can it be, like $17? Wrong! $32.50, almost $35 after tax. What is this thing made out of, chinchilla?!? (no disrespect to PETA). So let's be reminded, that that's like half the price of the boots I just bought! And they end up not even having my shade of make-up in stock! (they're ordering it and mailing it to me for free, but still). So I have this little pot thing of remnant 01 make-up that I get to use my really fancy make-up brush with for like a week til it comes in.
And that's the story of the $32 make-up brush.
Tomorrow starts operation closet clean-out, please pray for me....
See ya!

beginning
You always have to start somewhere. So here is my start. More to come.
Likely to include but not limited to:
unfiltered thought processes on a variety or topics (always the best)
sneak peeks into my closet, and recaps of my shopping expeditions (which will likely become fewer and further between, because of the following)
attempts to have a baby likely starting during summer of 2013, and all the fun leading up to it (my dietary overhaul needs that I'm going to have: No soda! No coffee! I'm going to need to drink water! How am I going to do it?!)
Not specifically a fashion blog at all. More of a "snap shot of Anne" overall blog.
First things first: A closet purge the final week of December.
I have a confession: There are clothes in my closet that I wore in high school. 10 years ago. I don't want to make excuses, some most I just shouldn't own any more because I'm 29 (give or take a few weeks...) and they are clothes from high school but I have a, I'll say it, hoarder-ish tendency when it comes to clothing.
I have attachments to them. I can remember when and what I wore them to. I can still fit into (most of) them. Should I still own all of what I do: NO.
So coming soon, the current state of my closets. Plural. I have my main bedroom walk-in closet, and have also taken over an entire closet for outerwear/coats, and another for overflow. I will take pictures before and during the purging process. Likely less exciting for any of you (are there any of you?), but definitely cleansing for me.
